  Purchasing a fake iPhone can reduce your business' credibility. It can also lead to syncing, connectivity and functionality problems, which can cause business delays or lost data. You can guarantee that your iPhone is original by purchasing it directly from the Apple store or a participating cell phone carrier. If you decide to purchase an iPhone from another resource, such as eBay or Craigslist, you can take following steps to verify its authenticity.

Serial Number
Each iPhone has a serial number that identifies it. By looking up the serial number, you can verify whether or not it's in Apple's database. Locate the serial number on the iPhone by tapping "Settings," choosing "General" and selecting "About." Scroll down to "Serial Number," and keep the screen open or write down the number. Visit "https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do" and input the serial number. The system lets you know whether or not your iPhone is still within the warranty period. If you receive the message "we're sorry, but this serial number is not valid. Please check your information and try again," it is likely that the iPhone is a fake.

Visible External Clues
The iPhone is identifiable by its distinct hardware features. If you examine your iPhone, you should see a "sleep/wake" button on the top-right corner, a "Home" button centered beneath the screen, and a ringer switch and volume buttons on the upper-left side. Additionally, your iPhone should have an Apple logo imprinted on the back. If any of these components are missing or present in a different location, it's likely that your iPhone is a fake.

Carrier Connectivity
The original iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS were only available on the AT&T network. AT&T is a GSM network, and only one of two such networks in the country -- the other being T-Mobile. If you purchase any of these earlier iPhone models and it's designed for a CDMA network, such as Verizon or Sprint, it's not an original iPhone. An iPhone 4 with a SIM card slot located on the right side is designed for GSM networks, while an iPhone 4 without a SIM card slot is designed for a CDMA network. The iPhone 4S is designed for use on both types of networks. Any discrepancies between hardware and connectivity indicate that the iPhone is not original.

Network Connectivity
All iPhone models should be able to connect to Wi-Fi, EDGE and Bluetooth. All models, except the original iPhone, can also connect to the 3G data network. If you purchase an iPhone that lacks the hardware to connect to one of these networks, it is likely a fake or manufactured for use in another country. You can verify that it’s not simply a glitch by restoring your iPhone and seeing if the feature works. If it doesn't work after being restored, it's likely a replica iPhone.

Syncing
If you purchase an iPhone that is unable to connect to iTunes or is not recognized by iTunes it could be a fake. Before coming to this conclusion, ensure that your iTunes and iOS software are both up to date. If you cannot sync information between your iPhone and your computer, attempt to restore your iPhone through iTunes. An iPhone that doesn't connect to iTunes or the app store after being restored is either fake or damaged.
Applications
The iPhone arrives with native or built in Apple-branded apps. Unless an iPhone is jailbroken, these apps cannot be removed. Some examples of built-in applications include "Contacts," "Compass," "Settings," "Calculator," "Music" and "Photos." If any these applications are missing, the phone is jailbroken or fake. You can restore the original firmware by entering DFU mode and reinstalling the operating system. If native applications are still missing, then your iPhone is likely fake.
Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider
If your iPhone has passed several of these steps, but you still suspect that it's a fake, bring it to your closest Apple store or Apple authorized service provider. A store technician can run diagnostic tests on your iPhone to verify its authenticity or lack of authenticity.

Apple Inc is spending more to manufacture its iPhone 7 smartphonethan predecessor iPhone 6S due to features such as a bigger battery and larger storage capacity, according to a teardown by IHS Markit Ltd. Including $5 in basic manufacturing costs, total cost to manufacture the iPhone 7 mobile rises to $224.80,$36.89 higher than the business research provider’s estimates for the iPhone 6S.Apple retails an unsubsidized 32GB iPhone 7 at $649. The company unveiled the iPhone 7 with high-resolution cameras and no headphone jack at its annual launch on Sept. 7.IHS Markit also said on Tuesday the iPhone 7’s Bill Of Materials (BOM), a financial estimate of the raw materials used, was “in line” with flagship smartphones made by rival Samsung Electronics but Apple ekes out better margins.“All other things being equal, Apple still makes more margin from hardware than Samsung, but materials costs are higher than in the past,” said Andrew Rassweiler, senior director of cost benchmarking services at IHS Markit.IHS Markit has not yet performed a teardown analysis on the larger iPhone 7 Plus.Supplies of Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus have been exhausted in all shades, and the smaller iPhone 7 has also sold out in the new jet black color, the company said last week.Yet, in some markets, such as China, interest in the new phone has been muted, as cheaper local brands amp up their design and marketing.Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus also come with adhesive which make them water-resistant with IP67 certification. The new A10 Fusion chipset also scores more than other mobile processors available in the market.

Hillary Clinton's work-
related emails from her private account are now
public, more than 52,000 pages detailing her tenure
as secretary of state but failing to resolve questions
about how she and her closest aides handled
classified information.
Several investigations continue into her exclusive use
of a nongovernment email account and homebrew
server while she was in government, an issue that
has dogged her presidential campaign, even though
she seems well-positioned to capture the Democratic
nomination.
The correspondence between Clinton and her
advisers, friends and political acquaintances offers
no shocking revelations, but it sheds light on a
management style she would take with her to the
White House.
Some of the things we learned:
CLASSIFIED INFORMATION
The emails are full of sections that the State
Department decided were improper for release and
blanked out, ranging from personal information to
national secrets.
In the end, State Department reviewers classified
more than 2,000 emails, mostly at the lower
"confidential" and "secret" levels. Twenty-two emails
were withheld entirely from publication on grounds
that they were "top secret." None of these bore
classification markings at the time they were sent
and most were written by other officials.
Most of the time, Clinton and aides appeared keenly
aware of the limitations of operating over an
unclassified, nongovernment account. Sometimes
they were frustrated by the constraints.
In a February 2010 message, Clinton exclaimed:
"It's a public statement! Just email it." Sent
moments later, the document merely said U.S. and
British officials would cooperate to promote peace.
"Well that is certainly worthy of being top secret,"
Clinton responded sarcastically.
But the State Department's Freedom of Information
Act reviewers found plenty of cases where releasing
the emails in uncensored form today, more than
three years after Clinton left office, would pose
diplomatic or national security concerns.
Many were written by advisers and experts, and
then forwarded to Clinton by one of three close
aides: Cheryl Mills, her chief of staff; Jake Sullivan,
her director of policy planning; and Huma Abedin,
her longtime personal assistant. All three remain in
Clinton's inner circle.
Officials describe Sullivan at the center of the most
sensitive chain, concerning CIA drone strikes. These
were the "top secret" emails the department would
not make public even in heavily censored form.
Other messages show top aides working around the
restrictions.
In February 2010, Abedin writes to Clinton about a
scheduled call with Ecuador's new foreign minister.
Abedin says she is trying to get her boss a "call
sheet," but it's classified.
In June 2011, Clinton tells Sullivan to convert
talking points meant for a secure fax into
"nonpaper" with "no identifying heading and send
nonsecure."

HIGH-TECH CHALLENGES
Clinton hardly comes across as a technological whiz.
At one point, she asks her communications adviser
how to charge her iPad and update an app. Asked if
she has wireless Internet, the secretary replies: "I
don't know if I have wi-fi. How do I find out?"
Clinton tells another aide that she is "never sure
which of my emails you receive, so pls let me know
if you receive this one and on which address you
did."
In her final year on the job, she apologizes to
someone for being slow to respond to an email,
describing her BlackBerry as having "a nervous
breakdown on my dime!"
Technological problems included the State
Department's unclassified email system, too.
The department's technology is "so antiquated that
NO ONE uses a State-issued laptop and even high
officials routinely end up using their home email
accounts to be able to get their work done quickly
and effectively," policy chief Anne-Marie Slaughter
laments in 2011.
Mills describes how hackers tried to get into her
account, but says, "I am not sure we want to
telegraph how much folks do or don't do off state
mail b/c it may encourage others who are out there."
In another chain, Clinton asks assistant Nora Toiv
for her email address, prompting Toiv to respond:
"You've always emailed on my State email." Clinton
replied: "Even weirder — I just checked and I do
have your State but not your gmail — so how did
that happen. Must be the Chinese!"
Even though Clinton's home email was unsecure,
she and her aides expressed concern about the
practices of other department officials.
Receiving a long Libya analysis, Clinton asks where
the author works. Sullivan tells her it comes from
one of her employees, and she responds with surprise
that "he used personal account if he is at State."
After a news story appears based on leaked
classified cables, Mills states solemnly: "The leaking
of classified material is a breach not only of trust,
it is also a breach of the law."

BENGHAZI
There was no smoking gun.
The congressional investigation into the Sept. 11,
2012, attack on the diplomatic compound in
Benghazi, Libya, may have alerted the public to
Clinton's private account, but the emails themselves
offer little that wasn't already known.
Still, it has provided significant fodder for her
political opponents.
"Two of our officers were killed in Benghazi by an
al-Qaida-like group: The Ambassador, whom I
handpicked, and a young communications officer on
temporary duty w(ith) a wife and two young
children," Hillary Clinton wrote to her daughter,
who used an account under the alias "Diane
Reynolds."
"Very hard day and I fear more of the same
tomorrow," the secretary wrote.
Republicans on the House Benghazi Committee
seized on that email as evidence Clinton quickly saw
the attack as the work of Islamic extremists, not a
spontaneous street protest against an anti-Muslim
video — a description provided by then-U.N.
Ambassador Susan Rice.
Sullivan assured her in later email that she never
echoed that assessment.
"You never said 'spontaneous' or characterized the
motives," he wrote.
A year earlier, after rebels ousted and killed their
longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi, Sullivan
hailed his boss as "the public face" of the U.S.
military intervention. While subsequent emails point
to the growing post-war chaos, none cited a specific
threat against the Benghazi mission.

OUTSIDE ADVISERS
An interesting set of characters has Clinton's ear.
No one was more prolific than 2008 campaign
adviser Sid Blumenthal. He was barred from
government by the Obama administration but his
"sbwhoeop" email handle pops up 1,030 times in
Clinton's total email correspondence.
Clinton last year called his would-be intelligence
reports "unsolicited." But she replied to one in
August 2012 with "keep 'em coming."
Many dealt with Libya, apparently written by a
former CIA official with whom Blumenthal
coordinated. Others delved into Afghanistan, Egypt,
the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and domestic U.S.
politics. Clinton often asked aides to print out
Blumenthal's advice or forwarded it to key State
Department officials.
Not all were welcome.
"This one strains credulity," Clinton wrote about a
report claiming French and British intelligence
services were trying to cut up Libya. "A thin
conspiracy theory," Sullivan responded. Gene Cretz,
U.S. ambassador there at the time, termed another
such memo "odd."
Blumenthal worked for the Clinton family
foundation and advised entrepreneurs trying to win
contracts from Libya's transitional government, and
his regular missives to the secretary of state suggest
a possible blurring of the lines between personal
relationships and private business ventures. Such
criticism has been levied repeatedly against the
Clintons as they and their friends have reaped tens
of millions of dollars since Bill Clinton's presidency.
But if Blumenthal had favorable access, no email
points to any favors he received.
Plenty of other individuals outside of government
chimed in with advice, solicited or not, for Clinton.
They include trusted holdovers from Bill Clinton's
presidency such as John Podesta, now heading
Hillary Clinton's campaign; think tank officials who
would conceivably join a Hillary Clinton presidency,
such as Neera Tanden, the Center for American
Progress' president; and foreign policy veterans,
including Henry Kissinger.
Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, a
frequent interlocutor, praises her for doing the
"Lord's Work." Nobel peace laureate Aung San Suu
Kyi of Myanmar asks for technological help. Former
President Jimmy Carter pitches in on North Korea
negotiations.

U.S. POLITICS
Domestic politics were never far from Clinton's
mind.
Secretaries of state love to describe themselves as
above politics, but Clinton kept close tabs on
President Barack Obama's health care overhaul, gay
marriage rulings, congressional and presidential
elections, and much more.
She hoped Republicans would put to rest the "
'absurd' death panels argument" during the health
care debate.
With the GOP set to crush Democrats in the 2010
midterm elections, Clinton declared herself
"bewildered" by how poorly her party was delivering
its message. Losing the House, she said, would be a
"disaster in every way."
When longtime Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley
announced he wouldn't run for re-election, Clinton
was "in shock." After asking a childhood friend,
Betsy Ebeling, to share "all insights into this huge
news," Clinton gets a response the next day about
"Rahm rumors everywhere." White House chief of
staff Rahm Emanuel would later become mayor.
Clinton doesn't hold back on Obama's 2012 re-
election campaign, even ascribing nicknames to the
president's potential rivals. Mitt Romney =
"Mittens." Newt Gingrich = "Grinch."
From Clinton's early days as secretary of state,
several emails from her inner circle viewed her public
actions with an eye toward the 2016 election.
In September 2010, communications adviser Philippe
Reines tells Clinton to avoid the furor over a
proposed mosque near the site of the destroyed
World Trade Center in New York.
"You'll be kicking the President when he's down.
Waay down," Reines writes. "There will be a day
you need to publicly disagree with him, but that day
is not Wed, Sep 8, 2010 and that issue is not the
mosque."

ROCK STAR DIPLOMAT
Clinton was surrounded by people who cheered her
every move.
"I'm being flooded with emails about how you
rocked," Abedin writes after her boss testified in
January 2013 before two congressional panels on the
Benghazi attack.
She wasn't kidding.
"Twitterverse abuzz with Hillary-kvelling,"
Brookings Institution president Strobe Talbott
wrote, using the Yiddish word for gushing praise.
"You looked fabulous," Abedin chimed in.
After a meme of Clinton reading her BlackBerry
became a sensation, Mills told her boss: "You look
cute."
"DAMN - I LOVE YOU!" wrote Capricia Marshall
when Obama nominated the longtime Clinton
supporter for State Department protocol chief.
"Thank you for holding firm for me ___ always in
my foxhole! xxooo"
Former policy chief Slaughter provides many of the
most obvious examples.
"I have NEVER been prouder of having worked for
you," she tells Clinton in March 2011, as the U.S.
intervened in Libya. "Turning POTUS around on
this is a major win for everything we have worked
for."
"Please tell HRC that she was a ROCK STAR
yesterday," Slaughter tells Sullivan after the
Benghazi sessions, having since left office.
Political consultant Mark Penn was a lone
dissenter, suggesting Republicans could use one
moment where she pounded the desk in frustration
as evidence she was rattled.
Communications adviser Philippe Reines leapt to
Clinton's defense:
"Give
Me
A
Break
You did not look rattled. You looked real. There's a
difference. A big one."
Sullivan said Penn gave her the same advice in her
losing 2008 presidential campaign. Clinton replied,
"BINGO!"

SENSE OF HUMOR
Clinton likes a good laugh.
So often buttoned-down on the campaign trail or
diplomatic circuit, her sense of humor pours forth in
emails.
When Afghanistan looks at a stricter code of
conduct for women, she writes: "WHAT??? Or, more
to the point, WTF??"
Clinton tries in February 2010 to call the White
House herself, only to reach a disbelieving operator.
She resigns to calling "like a proper and properly
dependent Secretary of State — no independent
dialing allowed."
She tells Reines, disappointed to be uninvited to an
all-woman gathering, that his "message cannot go
through this female-only channel which is required
to operate in perpetuity in a vain attempt to balance
the gender scales. Try again in the next millennium.
Thank you for your understanding."
And after receiving the colorful complaints of a
former Capitol colleague, Sen. Barbara Mikulski of
Maryland, Clinton offers empathy, referencing the
musical, "The Music Man": "Oh, Barb, we got
trouble w a capital "T'' in River City."
"Keep going," she tells Mikulski, invoking their
"home girl" Harriet Tubman, the runaway slave.
At 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve, Clinton asks an aide:
"Anything else I need to know before this year
ends?"

We live in an era of fast technological
change: self-driving cars, drones, artificial
intelligence.
Yet the tube-shaped subsonic airliners we keep
flying on wouldn't look out of place in the 1960s.
Take, for example, the Boeing 737.
A 50-year-old design that remains one of the
workhorses of the airline industry.
And going strong: Its latest iteration, the Boeing
737 MAX is expected to enter service next year.
To be fair, although from the outside it may look
structurally similar to its earlier versions, decades
of cumulative improvements have made the airliner
of today a vastly more sophisticated, efficient and
reliable machine.
Aircraft-making is an extremely capital-intensive
activity and, given the financial and technical risks
that launching an entirely new model entails, it's
understandable that the industry prefers to keep
milking proven concepts.
But how long before the current generation of
airliners reaches its limits?
From electric propulsion to hypersonics, from NASA
to private entrepreneurs, the quest for new, truly
groundbreaking, aircraft concepts is on.
And it has the potential to forever change our idea
of air travel.
High-voltage innovation
Airbus, for example, has unveiled its future aircraft
concept.
This isn't exactly a new aircraft program, but a
depiction of what would be possible if all of the
futuristic technologies envisaged by Airbus could be
combined to create the ideal airliner.
Across the Atlantic, Boeing is also working,
together with NASA, on a number of futurist
aircraft concepts within the framework of the New
Aviation Horizons initiative .
The SUGAR program (that stands for Subsonic
Ultra Green Aircraft Research) has come up with
some truly innovative aerodynamic and propulsion
solutions.
These include an aircraft with eye-catching truss-
braced wings and an hybrid gas-electric propulsion
system fed by liquefied natural gas.
The search for new modes of propulsion is
particularly important, as aviation remains one of
the few major industries where replacing fossil fuels
remains an unresolved challenge.

Understanding your fertility pattern can help with
avoiding pregnancy as well as getting pregnant.
Understanding how pregnancy happens is important.
If you want to avoid pregnancy, it helps to know
when a woman is most likely to get pregnant, and
when she is not. If you are trying to become
pregnant, it is important to know when getting
pregnant is most likely and the different ways it can
happen.
Whether you are trying to avoid pregnancy, trying
to get pregnant, or are just curious, you may have
lots of questions. Here are some answers about how
pregnancy happens.
When Does Pregnancy Begin?
In order for a woman to become pregnant, she
must release an egg from her ovary — ovulation.
Next, the egg and sperm must meet and form a
single cell — fertilization. Then pregnancy begins
when and if the fertilized egg attaches to a
woman’s uterus and begins to grow —
implantation.
MENSTRUATION
During the first two weeks of a
woman’s menstrual cycle she has her period.
This usually lasts 3–7 days. After that, hormones
make eggs mature in her ovaries, and the lining
of her uterus thickens.
OVULATION
Ovulation happens about two weeks before a
woman’s next period would take place. The egg
enters a fallopian tube and starts moving toward
the uterus.
FERTILIZATION
After vaginal intercourse
or alternative insemination , several hundred
sperm travel up through the uterus and into the
fallopian tubes. An egg may be in one of the
tubes. One sperm may fertilize the egg. The
millions of other sperm seep out of the vagina or
are absorbed by the woman’s body.
The joining of egg and sperm is called
fertilization. It is most likely to occur from sexual
intercourse that happens during the five days
before the egg is released or on the day of
ovulation.
BOY OR GIRL?
Millions of sperm are released when a man
ejaculates. About half of them have a gene that
could produce a boy. The other half have one that
could produce a girl.
IMPLANTATION
The fertilized egg moves down the fallopian tube
and divides into more and more cells, forming a
ball. The ball of cells reaches the uterus about 3–
4 days after fertilization.
The ball floats in the uterus for another 2–3
days.
Pregnancy begins if the ball of cells attaches to
the lining of the uterus. This is called
implantation. It usually starts about six days
after fertilization and takes about 3–4 days to be
complete. The embryo will develop from cells on
the inside of the ball. The placenta will develop
from the cells on the outside of the ball.
Up to half of all fertilized eggs never implant.
They pass out of women’s bodies during
menstruation.
TWINS?
It is possible for the developing ball of cells to
split up until about the end of week four. If it
splits into two, for example, identical twins can
develop. It is also possible for two eggs to be
released at ovulation. Fraternal — not identical —
twins can develop if both eggs get fertilized by
sperm and implant in the uterus.
GESTATIONAL AGE
Pregnancy is measured using “gestational age.”
Gestational age starts on the first day of a
woman’s last menstrual period
(LMP).Gestational age can be confusing. Most
people think of pregnancy as lasting nine
months. And it’s true that a woman is pregnant
for about nine months. But because pregnancy is
measured from a woman’s last menstrual period
— about 3–4 weeks before she is actually
pregnant — a full-term pregnancy usually totals
about 40 weeks LMP — roughly 10 months.Many
women do not remember the exact date of their
last menstrual period — that’s OK. The surest
way to tell gestational age early in pregnancy is
with ultrasound.

manage information systems through targeted
exercises in real-world projects and current projects
sponsored by outside companies to help you learn
to bring together people, business processes and
information technology.
The Students in Information Management (SIM)
club meets weekly for presentations by recruiters
and consultants, giving you a chance to interact
with potential employers.
You can apply to join the Multiple Engineering
Co-Operative Program (MECOP) and experience
full system development and testing at the Center
for Applied Systems and Software (CASS), develop
IT service delivery expertise working for the
college's information services department, or
immerse yourself in one of the many BIS
internships offered by outside organizations. As an
intern you can apply what you learned in class in
real-world organizations and develop marketable
skills. And when you come back to school, you
can share your experiences and newly acquired
skills. Go make some waves!
Curriculum
Your freshman and sophomore years in BIS will be
largely confined to starting the OSU baccalaureate
core and the Business Core (see Requirements .)
These courses are required of all business students.
The BIS major courses are completed during the
junior and/or senior years. Students should review
the BIS major specific requirements.
CISA Certification
The OSU College of Business BIS and Accounting
programs are certified by the Information Systems
Audit and Control Association (ISACA) . Students
who complete their studies in both disciplines, will
need only two, instead of the three years of
practice normally required for the prestigious
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

Enrichment Activities
Participation in BIS-specific enrichment activities
expand your understanding and build your skills
beyond the classroom. The Students in
Information Management (SIM) Club meets
weekly for presentations by recruiters, consultants
or software instruction. Principal activities include
weekly meetings, a career night in the winter, field
trips in the winter and spring, and a graduation
event in the spring.
Pursuing paid internships, including the Multiple
Engineering Cooperative Program (MECOP),
increases your career opportunities after
graduation. BIS students are supported by
scholarships and awards, by the BIS Advisory
Council, and the Portland Chapter of the Society
for Information Management (SIM) .

Xiaomi launched its Mi5 smartphone on
Wednesday, using its first ever European launch
event to take on Samsung and Apple handsets and
build up its brand beyond its current markets.
The Chinese mobile company took the wraps off the
5.15 inch Mi5 smartphone which will cost 2,699
yuan ($354) for the top-end 120 gigabyte version
and 1,999 yuan for the 32 GB handset.
Xiaomi's Mi5 will be available from March 1 in
China and will roll out to the company's other
markets such as India.
A few of the key features include:
A 16 megapixel back camera and 4 megapixel
selfie camera
A fingerprint sensor
A curved back
White and gold models available.
The smartphone maker, which is valued at around
$45 billion, has seen huge growth due to its tactic
of selling low-price, high-spec smartphones and
using a mix of social media and selling direct to
the consumer to build its brand.
But as the smartphone market slows, particularly
in China, Xiaomi is looking beyond its current
markets and to the West where there is a big
demand for its devices.
Xiaomi has previously signaled its intent to break
into the U.S. and European market but has always
declined to give a specific timeframe.
"We primarily focus on existing markets…we're
beginning to work our way into other markets,"
Barra told CNBC in a TV interview on Wednesday.
Analysts said that Xiaomi would be looking for
growth elsewhere amid slower growth in China.
"It's little surprise Xiaomi has gone for a big
European launch. As the Chinese smartphone
market plateaus, it is essential Xiaomi (and other
Chinese phone makers) drive growth in
international markets," Ben Wood, chief of research
at CCS Insight, told CNBC by email.
"The big questions for Xiaomi are whether it has
overcome the intellectual property challenges it has
faced to date and how it builds its brand to
Western consumers who will never have heard of
the brand?"
Hugo Barra, international vice-president, addressed
the patent issue at MWC, saying that the company
filed 3,600 patents last year globally. Barra told
CNBC in December that Xiaomi had filed over
6,000 patents with 40 percent of them in 2015
being filed outside of China.
The Chinese upstart currently holds a 4.6 percent
smartphone market share, according to IDC, and is
hoping to increase that this year with the Mi5.
During the event, Barra constantly compared the
Mi5 to rivals Apple and Samsung, a feature that is
often seen in Xiaomi's launches as it looks to
position its brand alongside the world's biggest
smartphone makers.Most of Xiaomi's success in
China has been built on the ability to get users to
spend money on its software and services. There are
some doubts about whether Xiaomi can replicate
this model abroad when it expands into western
markets where Google and Apple's services
dominate.
But Barra said that the sales model would be
transferable globally and Xiaomi was already
starting to make moves in this space.
"We'll bring this to other markets…so lot of
exciting evolution ahead which will allow us to
bring our internet content outside of China," Barra
told CNBC.

The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Wednesday urged processors and vendors of drug, water and food to maintain personal and corporate hygiene when handling their products.
Mrs Ogochukwu Mainasara, the Director of Food Safety and Applied Nutrition in NAFDAC, gave the advice while delivering a paper at a workshop on National Food safety in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The paper was entitled: “Guides for Consumers and Household Safe handling of Food.”
Mainasara maintained that some of the food poisoning and complaints about stomach upset after consumption of food or water could be traced to the handlers or processors of the edible item.
She said that food processors and handlers must maintain personal hygiene through regular hand washing with a mild soap before processing any food for both public and household consumption.
“Personal hygiene is one of the most important principles of food safety, regardless of whether you are working in a food establishment or just cooking for yourself and your family at home.
“Food handlers, therefore, have a prime role to play in food preparation, and that is to guarantee that meals served are hygienic for consumption,’’ she said.
The director noted that the availability of safe and wholesome food to all consumers is an important component of NAFDAC’s mandate; adding: “It is one of the priority issues of public health concern.”
Earlier, the Director-General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii, who was represented by Dr Samson Adebayo, urged the participants to contribute meaningfully at the workshop since food safety concerned everybody.
“We expect that you listen to all the papers, ask questions since we have assembled competent and experienced resource persons to talk on topical issues concerning food safety.
