Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo

A former governor of Abia, Chief Orji Kalu, has described the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, as an example of a leader in the country.
Kalu made this known at the centenary lecture organised by the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ibadan on Thursday.
According to him, Nigeria can never have a leader like Awolowo, who selflessly impacted on the lives of his people in a manner that no other citizen has done till date.
He called on leaders in the country to emulate the leadership character of Awolowo by shunning greed, among others.
The former governor also urged journalists and other professionals to emulate Awolowo so that the country could have “credible leaders in various establishments’’.
“I urge journalists and other professionals to emulate Chief Awolowo because if we put our axe together we can get other leaders with the qualities and attributes of this sage,’’ Kalu said.
